Duke University Marine Laboratory (Nicholas School of the Environment)
The Duke University Marine Laboratory is located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, adjacent to the historic seacoast town of Beaufort, with direct access to the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Lookout National Seashore Park, sand beaches and dunes, estuaries, wetlands, and maritime forests. A component of the Nicholas School of the Environment, the Marine Laboratory is an interschool teaching and research facility dedicated to the study of basic coastal processes and human interactions with those processes.
Exchange Programs
Students may participate in exchange programs at two institutions: Howard University in Washington, D.C. and Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. The exchanges are generally for one semester and allow students from Howard and Spelman to study at Duke while Duke students study at these institutions.
